Whether you are completely new to self-defense or looking to strengthen your personal safety skills, this course provides a structured and supportive environment to help you build confidence and competence.

What You’ll Learn

Beginner students will develop the core fundamentals of self-defense, including:

  • Appropriate defensive stances

  • Blocks and striking techniques

  • Passing and trapping

  • Methods for staying on your feet

  • Creating space to safely escape

  • Schedule: Every Saturday, 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM

  • Location:IronFit Gym, 435 W. Commercial Street in East Rochester

  • Tuition: $100 per month

  • Bonus: Includes one guest pass each month so you can bring a friend to try the class

Important Requirements

This is an active, physically demanding course. Participation in all drills and exercises is required.

Please wear:

  • Comfortable athletic clothing

  • Sneakers or flat-soled, lace-up shoes

  • Bring water and a willingness to learn

While completion of our Intro to Concealed Carry Skills course is highly recommended, it is not required to join this program.

What You’ll Learn

  • Firearm safety fundamentals

  • Marksmanship essentials:

    • Stance

    • Grip

    • Sight picture

    • Sight alignment

    • Breathing

    • Trigger control

  • Drawing and firing from concealment

  • Target transitions

  • Movement and positioning through environments

  • Effective use of cover

  • New concealed carriers

  • Permit holders who want to improve practical firearm handling

  • Responsible gun owners looking to build confidence and consistency

  • Schedule: Every Saturday at 3:00PM

Training Format

This is a physically active, hands-on course that emphasizes practical application and skill development. Students will spend minimal time in lecture and maximum time practicing.

12:30PM: Intro to Self Defense Session

Intro to Self Defense

Whether you’re completely new to self-defense or simply want to feel more confident in everyday situations, this 1 hour introductory course is designed to give you practical, easy-to-learn skills you can start using immediately.

This course is ideal for adults, college students, professionals, parents, and anyone looking to improve personal safety, awareness, and confidence — no experience or fitness background required.

What’s included:

  • A one page guide (E-mailed after registration - Check Spam for an email from Theron.Genaux@EDCRochester.com)

  • Hands on skills training: Stances, Creating Space, Blocks, Strikes and how to stay on your feet.

  • A chance to win a free month of our self defense sessions.

First is a five minute review of the guide which covers:

  • Conflict prevention

  • Stances

  • Situational awareness

  • The OODA loop

Then it’s all hands on practice:

  • Non-Threatening defensive stance

  • Ways to create space

  • Blocking and strikes

  • Principles of staying on your feet

Seats are intentionally limited to ensure smaller groups for more 1:1 attention and content delivery.

It’ll be important for you to wear comfortable clothing and sneakers or flat sole, laced shoes (Vans, Converse, Barefoot or wrestling/Martial Art shoes are all acceptable but not required).

This beginner-friendly, one-hour skills session is designed to introduce you to the essential concepts and techniques of safe, effective concealed carry. Whether you are new to firearms or looking to develop greater confidence, this course provides practical, hands-on coaching in a safe and supportive environment.

Our coaching approach minimizes lecture and emphasizes active participation. You’ll spend less time listening and more time practicing the skills that matter most. We do not utilize any live fire in this program. Airsoft replicas are used to ensure our safety standards.
